Through the New Covenant (in the New Testament, by the Blood of Jesus), we have inherited all that God has for us, including the promises He gave to Abraham and those of the New Covenent. Many are listed in Deuteronomy; He lists all of the benefits for those who trust and walk in obedience to Him. (He also lists all the curses for those who do not put their trust in Him or walk in obedience.)
The Lord gave us promises in His Word, so that we would look to Him for the answers to all of our needs... for wisdom, favor, peace, health and prosperity, etc.
If we could get the answer through any other source, but God miraculously gave them to us, we would probably tend to believe that it came from the other source. For example, if we had a problem that a doctor could solve, and we asked God for the answer and then went to the doctor, we would most likely believe that whatever the doctor gave us took care of the problem. Often-times He does provide direction to the right source, and we need to acknowledge that it was through Him that we were directed.
On the other hand, for things that no doctor or person could help us with, when we receive our miracle, we know without a doubt the Lord blessed us. In His Word, He has already provided us with promises for every need we will ever have, so that we could not only look to Him for them, but so that we could put our faith in His word and know without a doubt where to go to find answers.
Standing on His Word for His Promises to Manifest in Our Lives
Few people understand how to, or the importance of standing on, God's word for His promises. When we are believing for the Lord to move in our lives, we must find two or three scriptures that agree with us. In His Word, He states that where two or more agree, it shall be done for them. For this reason, when we pray His word, we are praying the results, rather than focusing on the problem. We are believing Him for the answer by relying on His word. We pray the answer into existence by the faith of our words - which are lined up with His faith in our speaking His words. (Faith is an action, and vy speaking God's word, your faith is put into action). Angels harken to the word of God, and if it is in God's word, then He already agrees with you!
WARNING: Don't Take God's Word Out of Context!
Just so you know, I'm not saying to take His word out of context... so don't twist the actual meaning of certain scriptures into what you want it to mean, because that is clearly wrong. In fact, that is what the enemy does all of the time in an effort to confuse us. If you do not know whether a certain scripture is for the purpose you would like to use it for, then ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you, and He will. That is what He is there for, to guide us in the truth.
Be Careful What You Say: "Bless" and do not "Curse"
The words that we speak are powerful. The Lord warned us that we will be responsible for every idle word that comes out of our mouth. We need to be diligent in what we say, and use only positive words; if it is negative, don't say it! The Bible says that you shall eat the fruit of your lips, and it also says that there is power is in the tongue. When we speak God's Word into situations, His angels immediately harken to the Words of God. The words you spoke are immediately put into action whether you can see it manifested in the natural, or not. If you continue strong in your faith, then you will see the results. However, if you speak doubtful words, you can literally block answers to your own prayers! His angels could be on their way with the answer, and you could speak doubt from being tired of waiting, and bind them from your lack of faith. If you accidently speak doubt, stop yourself, and say "Lord, forgive me, I know Your word is true and You will do as You promised in Your word".
God's Will is His Word - and God's Word is His Will.
When you pray the Word, you pray the will of God, and the answer rather than focusing on the problem. If we are instructed to do what Jesus did, we need to learn how to speak the "end from the beginning". When you pray the promises, you pray the answers. Hence, when you pray according to His will, then you are coming into agreement with Him, as though the Lord responds "sure, that's what I've wanted for you from the beginning".
God makes these promises to His covenant people (His church; us), and He watches over His word to perform it (Isa. 55:11). All we have to do is believe it in our heart, speak it with our mouth (Mark 11:23), and the more we speak it with our mouth, the more we believe it in our heart! His word declares that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (the more we hear it, the more we believe and understand it) which is why we need to meditate on it day and night, and speak God's truth in our lives until we do it while we sleep.
In other words, to stand on God's Word is to believe that He is not a man that He should lie, and that His word is truth. If we believe it in our heart, and speak it with our mouth (not just think it) we are speaking it into existence. All we have to do is "believe" - and God's angels do all of the work! When we speak God's Word into a situation, Angels are standing by to assist us and harken to the Word of God and make it happen. It is and always has been God's will for us to prosper in all things, and be in health, just as it is His will for our souls to prosper (3 John 2).
When Jesus said "it is my wish above everything else", that means that He is fervently stating what He wants for your life... more than anything. He loves you so much that He wants you to prosper in "all" things and to be in health, just as He wants your soul to prosper. Some people do not believe that He wants them to be well, or He wants them to be financially secure, so let me ask you this: What does His will for us to prosper in "all things" leave out? How could it leave out anything? All means all... including having peace in your life, joy, love, even having more than enough financially, as He blesses us "so that we can be a blessing". How could He not bless you financially but want you to give for the furtherance of the gospel? "He came to give us an abundance of all good things" so thank Him for every good thing that He has done in your life. As you stand on His promises, He will honor your faith and "it shall be given unto you"... In fact, He will be delighted to give you the desires of your heart when you choose to believe Him (His word as truth).
Martin Luther said, "What greater insult . . . can there be to God, . . . than not to believe His promises."
