The one thing we have to realize is that what we want and what the Lord wants may not be the same.  Our thoughts are not His thoughts! As we look to Him for wisdom, we pray that He will light our path and show us where to go according to His will. It's important to tell Him "Your will, not mine" and submit your mind, body and spirit to His will, so that you can hear His voice.

Sometimes we want something so badly that our desires are what we hear in our mind, or what we believe that we need at the moment. We are instructed in His Word to "lean not unto our own understanding" or try to figure things out on our own, as we often do, and just trust in Him.

There are three voices you could possibly hear in your mind. Here, you are hoping to hear the voice of God, and praying that you do, but His voice is so subtle, that other voices will interfere with listening to the Lord's direction. I will tell you just how to get past them.

First, you can hear your own voice (through your own understanding and your desires).

Second, you can hear the voice of the enemy, who is trying to set you up for a great fall in order to steal your joy.

Third, the Holy Spirit speaks deep down inside of you with a still, soft voice. Many times He gives you peace about they way in which He wants you to go. In other words, if you don't have peace about it, it is probably not the right direction. Ask Him for direction, and confirmation if that is the way He wants you to go and He will give it to you.

Anyway, by submitting to the Lord's will, by saying "Your will, not mine" and by humbling yourself before Him and telling Him that you “submit yourself to Him, mind, body and spirit“, you are quieting your own voice inside of you. Next, you need to “command all demonic voices to be silenced in Jesus Name, so that you don’t hear the enemy’s tactics. This way, once you have done this, you can rest assured that while you wait upon the Lord for His guidance, you will be able to hear His still, small voice.

He may direct you to a scripture, and put it in your mind. He may direct you with peace about doing something you have thought of, as confirmation, that you can't get off of your mind. He may tell you to do something that you've never thought of before and don't know why He would want you to do it, but after you follow His lead, He shows you something you weren’t even aware of.

If you are perplexed, ask Him to confirm it and do whatever He says to do. If you ask for confirmation, once again, submit yourself to Him, mind, body and spirit, and command all demonic voices to be silenced in Jesus Name, so you can be sure that when He confirms something to you, that it is the Lord speaking.

I say this, to do it all over again, because sometimes we get conflicting thoughts, and that only confuses us, and then we remember that we forgot to “silence the voice of the enemy“. If so, simply silence all demonic voices in Jesus Name, submit yourself before the Throne of God, and ask again. The Lord wants to be the One Who leads you and guides you beside still waters... everything the Lord will instill within you will be that of peace.

Lord, Jesus, we pray and agree for Your will in this situation in Jesus Name. We ask You to guide Your servant to where You want them to go; we silence the voice of the enemy in the Name of Jesus, as we submit our mind, body and soul to You, Dear Lord, asking You to speak to Your servant’s heart in Jesus Name. We thank You for opening doors that otherwise wouldn't be opened absent Your favor and Your generosity with God and with every person Your servant comes into contact with. We praise You for having a plan for each of us, a plan to prosper us, and give us hope and a future, according to Jer. 29:11, and above all else, You state in 3 John 2 that it is Your will for Your servant to prosper in ALL things and BE in health, just as it is Your will for Your servant's soul to prosper - and we thank You for knowing our needs before we even ask. We praise You for bringing us good news at this time, for giving us peace that surpasses all understanding - that only comes from You, Lord, and we lift You up and give You all the praise, all the glory and all the honor, for You Alone are Worthy!!!! In Jesus Name we pray, amen and amen (so be it).
