The "confessions" that we are referring to is simply acknowledging God's word as truth (not necessarily that you have sinned). When one comes to the knowledge of what Christ did for us, in our place, and confesses that Jesus is the Lord of our life, the Holy Spirit comes to reside in our hearts. Then, from that point forward, we can live and breathe by faith through the Word of God... By that, I mean that we believe what He says about us, keeping His Words hidden in our hearts (by memorizing His promises) and speaking His Promises into existence in our lives. This is how we live by faith and learn to walk in love. Ultimately, we can live in peace no matter our circumstances, and know the true Joy of the Lord.
Here, we are referring to using God's words, by speaking words He has already spoken, in order to agree with Him for what He has for us (and already proclaimed about our future). Insodoing, you are coming into agreement with Him by expecting these things to happen to you, and the Word says "where two or more agree, it shall be done for them", so Who better to be in agreement with but the Lord, Himself? I might ask.
In an attempt to simplify things, we have made available several links in this web site of "confessions" - which are God's promises that we can confess - for every purpose and circumstance in our lives. If you need healing, for example, click on "Confessions for Healing", and review the promises of God concerning your health. With a little dedicated research, you can locate many more than we have made available to you on this web site of God's promises that you are waiting for in your life (and stand on His Word that what He says is true, and by speaking His word in your prayer life, you shall surely see it come to pass).
You may want to make a list of promises you are believing God for, or create index cards to take with you anywhere you go, so that you can review and confess these promises any time of day. This way, you will be able to memorize God's word, as His will is that we "write His word upon our hearts".
"Confession" merely means to proclaim God's word, as though it was written thousands of years ago specifically for you, because it was! These are God's precious promises for our lives. If you have unsaved loved ones, for example, you can believe when you pray God's word into their situation (or any situation of yours) that His Word will not return to Him void, but it will do exactly what it was meant to do" (Isaiah 55:11). By speaking God's promises into your situation, you are praying the answer, rather than focusing on the problem. In other words, by speaking His words, rather than making up your own, you have the assurance of what His will is regarding the subject.
Instead of asking Him, thank Him, and give Glory to God for the answer! Remiind Him that His word has already provided the solution, and watch the power of God's words make it happen for you, and in other peoples' lives.
Miracles Happen When We Speak the Word
The words we speak are seeds that we sow into the spiritual realm. Angels harken to the Word of God, so when we speak His Promises, we are literally making things happen in the unseen world which will manifest in our lives. That's why His Word declares that we shall eat the fruit of our lips, along with many other warnings that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Whether we speak positive or negative words, that is entirely our decision, but there is a spiritual rule He made before the world began regarding seedtime and harvest, and we shall receive a harvest either way. If you've been sowing negative words into your lives, turn it around by speaking God's words, which are positive. It may take a short while for all of the negative seeds to be sown, but your life will literally turn around from the positive words you speak.
As you know, we were created in the image of God. When God created the universe, He spoke and what He spoke immediately came into existence. Now what we speak may come into immediate existence in the spiritual realm but not manifest itself for some period of time. Don't lose your faith - stand on God's word and your faith in God will be tested - and you will see what you are believing for come to pass. Through the work of the cross, we inherited the authority of Christ, as well as Abraham's promises of blessings, so we have every right to claim our promises, and by faith in God, we will receive all that He has for us as we ask for them to be manifested in our lives.
Be aware of every word that proceeds out of your mouth. The Word warns us that we are responsible for every idle word that comes out of our mouth. If you say, "my back is killing me", turn it around by saying, "that's not what I meant to say, my back hurts, but it is NOT killing me". People get into the habit of saying things that their parents have said for years, or their friends. For instance, what does it mean when my dad always said "holy cow"? We need to be more mindful of the words that we speak, because through our spirit, we are literally breathing life into the words that come out of our mouths. It's pretty powerful when you think about the authority we have, and it is effectuated through the words that we say -- and we need to start taking them seriously by using words on purpose.
God's Word Gives You Strength for Any Situation
When you are down, sad, or depressed, you are weak. The enemy tries to use this to his advantage, so that he can attack you when you are defenseless. That's what it means when the Bible declares that "the joy of the Lord is your strength". How better to disturb your peace when you are down?
When we are happy, and at peace, we are strong. By speaking God's Word, you are speaking positive things into your life. Look at a few of His promises, and you will discover that every single one of them is strong and positive. Faith is the substance of things hoped for but not [yet] seen. By speaking, you are acting in faith (speaking is doing something physically), and by speaking God's Word, you are believing Him over what you otherwise see, and effectively turning your circumstances around through your faith in His ability, not ours.
Talk back to the devil! Jesus did, out loud, as a matter of fact. If you have a negative thought, it's not you and it's not from the Lord. Say something immediately to counter it in the positive - out loud. If you think to yourself "this will never happen" say, "no, my God will provide for my circumstances", or whatever you are believing for.
Laughter is internal aroebics. What arobics does for your body, laughter does for your soul. Speak positive things into your life and counter every negative thought, so you can hear a positive statement come out of your mouth.
Here are a Few Examples ...
A girlfriend of mind recently discovered a huge lump in her abdominal area while stretching, face down on the floor. After declaring that she is "healed by the stripes of Jesus" (she even discovered she was saying that in her sleep), she woke up and the lump was gone!
A member of the Victory Christian Center (victorytulsa.org) was in a terrible car accident. They had to literally cut the car open in order to get her out. This incident was just after she learned how to speak the Word, and she knew her knees were crushed, but did not say so. All she said (out loud) while they were attempting to get her out of the car was "I am healed by the stripes of Jesus; I am healed by the stripes of Jesus; my knees are fine I am healed by the stripes of Jesus." After she was pulled out of the car, they couldn't find anything wrong with her knees but a few bruises. No broken bones, or anything.
A young girl's sister was told that her sister was dead by the doctor who declared her so, and she refused to believe it. She said "no, my sister shall live and not die and declare the works of the Lord." At that time, even her sister was not a Christian, she was the only one in the family and learned to speak the Word from early on in her Christianity. Because she declared God's Word into the situation and did not listen to what the doctors said, her sister was revived. She was diing of a terrible disease where your fingers and limbs turn black from lack of oxygen and literally fall or break off. She lost several fingers and toes, and even one foot and a portion of her leg, but she survived. Today, she is walking with a prosthetic and declaring what God did for her, through her dedicated sister, who is a member of Kenneth Copeland Ministries (kcm.org).
I have my own testimonies. When I refuse to take anything for menstral cramps, but they get so bad that they are all the way down to my knees, one day I wanted to beat on my legs, they hurt so bad. I yelled at them and said "pain, go away!!!" But the funny thing is, how I discovered this, because it did... But my stomach pain was still there, and it only left my legs. So I told my stomach pain to go away, and it left me at once. Now, I don't need to take pain relief, I just tell the pain to go away. My husband just looked at me from the other side of the couch, and when I told him, he was amazed. I use it now, all of the time. People tell me that they don't have that level of faith to do this, but it is through experiences or accidents - or making an effort once you become mindful of it - like this that we learn. Subsequently, I discovered that we have dominion and authority over every living thing (and cell) in our body. In other words, we can speak directly to the problem, cancer or tumor, for example, we can tell it to dry up and be gone! Speak to your body and tell it to be made whole by the blood of Jesus.
Take communion on a daily basis declaring that you are cleansed by the blood of Jesus until your body starts showing those manifestations in the here and now. It works! He works because His angels harken to His words! Until you believe what God has to say about you - in the positive - discovering what He wants to do for you in your life, we'll never know what we are fully capable of through speaking God's word - in every circumstance. (See the confessions links with respect to your children, prosperity, unsaved loved ones, etc., there are confessions and promises of God we can proclaim for every situation).
