It is no surprise that the enemy uses time against us, to keep us so busy and distracted from God's promises that he can destroy our peace, but we have the Word of God to counter-act his efforts. In Ephesians 6, Paul shows us that we have the Sword of the Spirit (of God's Word) and the Shield of Faith (confessing God's Word) to stand against the firey darts of the enemy. In our imitating Christ, we need to speak back to the devil, just as He did, by confessing His words.
Even if all you do is speak the name of Jesus, over and over again, it won't take many times unitl you feel the peace from the presence of the Lord. Here are a few more scriptures you can take along with you in these efforts of maintaining your peace, by allowing His peace to reign in your life:
- You will keep me in perfect peace, because my mind is stayed on You, Lord - Isaiah 26:3.
- I cast down imaginations and every high thing (thought) that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and I bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ having a soberness and readiness in my mind to avenge my rebellions or disobedient thoughts - 2 Corinthians 10:5-6.
- I will not worry about anything, but I will pray about everything and thank God He hears me. I cast all care on the Lord because He cares for me, and I let the peace of God which passes all understanding keep my heart and mind in Christ Jesus - 1 Peter 5:7; Philippians 4:6,7.
- I think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report. Whatever is virtuous and praiseworthy, I think on these things - Philippians 4:8.
- Jesus left me His peace; therefore my heart will not be troubled or afraid. I will trust in Him - John 14:27.
- I let the peace of God rule my heart and act as the umpire of my life - Colossians 3:15. (The umpire of a baseball game calls the plays in the game. Whatever he says is the final word. I let God's peace have the final word in my life.)
- Great peace have they who love thy law, and nothing will by any means offend them - Psalm 119:165.
- I follow after (pursue) peace with all men and holiness without which no one shall see the Lord - Hebrews 12:14.
- I give no place to strife because where there is strife, there is confusion and the opportunity for every evil work - James 3:16.
- I am blessed because I am a peacemaker - Matthew 5:9.
