While spending time with God in prayer and reading His Word is crucial to allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you concerning every detail of your life, praise and worship will exalt and edify the Lord on a spiritual level.  For example, when you praise God for Who He Is and all He has done for you, it is an act of worship (talking to Him or sharing with others, you are giving Him all the Glory).   In fact, the one thing that you can give the Lord that He doesn't already have is your praise!  If you thank Him ten times today, that is ten times more than He would have had, if you chose not to give Him the Glory for what He has done, or is doing for you.

Sometimes in prayer we get used to the repetition of what we are praying for, until we receive an answer on each of the issues we bring before Him, that we at times become repetitious and maybe even rush the prayer, in an effort to say all that you have on your heart at that moment... but we need to spend time listening for the answer, and hearing that still, small voice takes listening with all of your heart... 

Learn How to Spend Time in Praise and Worship: 

Someone once said "Never utter a word in prayer, until you have an audience with God".  The following is a brief description of how I have personally entered the gates of His presence (or He visited me right where I was).  Everyone is different, so you may do it differently with the same result...

First, in your quiet time alone with the Lord, close your eyes and imagine His face, and focus only on Who He Is, the Lord of Glory, the Prince of Peace, God Almighty, the Creator of the Universe, Our Lord, Our Savior, Our Healer, Our Comforter, Our Deliverer!  He is everything to everyone who will allow Him to be - so let Him be your Healer, your Comforter, you Peace! 

Note: We are instructed to put on the garmet of praise, intentionally, as we are instructed to put on shoes shod with peace.  In other words, we need to prepare ourselves, on purpose, to give Him praise!  In Lam. 3:41, the Lord says that we lift up our heart with our hands.  When you lift your hands to Him while edifying Who He Is and singing praise songs to Him, it will only intensify your experience in honoring Him with your faith by this act of praise.

Then, lift your hands to Him (if you want) as you sing one of your favorite praise songs, and offer yourself to Him as a living sacrifice of praise, by worshiping Him with your song (or play your favorite praise music while you sing along in worship).  You will find that in taking the time to honor Him with your praise, and worship, when you sing to Him with all of your heart, that you will feel the peace of His presence.  Do this until you are overwhelmed with peace that you have never felt before!

We need to find time, or make time for Him:

If you set aside time before you get started with your busy day - before the enemy has time to make every effort to distract you from having the time to devote solely to the Lord - and spend time just worshiping Who He Is and sing Him songs of praise... you will come to a point where you are overwhelmed with the peace of the Lord, and no words need be said.  You will feel as if you are in a trans, half asleep, but conscious of the presence of the Lord.  This is the time to come boldly before the Throne and make your requests known  to Him... if you are unable to talk, don't worry, because your spirit is communicating with His Spirit because He knows your needs before you even ask.

Stand Firm in Your Faith that He Hears You:

We need to remember that once we ask Him for something, if we just keep asking, we sound like a broken record asking, over and over again. We need to take the time to receive the answer, rather than just focusing on the issues.  Once you ask the Lord to take care of something for you, leave it with Him, knowing that He has heard you.  From that point on, thank Him for taking care of it for  you. Thank Him for healing you. Thank Him each and every time it comes to your mind, thank Him that He has already provided the answer, and that He will ensure that it is manifested in the natural.  In other words, give Him all the praise before He even answers your requests, by faith, knowing that He is Faithful.  (This is living by faith).

When we just keep asking, it sounds to Him like we don't believe He heard us the first time, or that we don't believe He has done anything about it or is in the process of doing anything, so we just keep asking for it.  This is fear-based prayer, and full of doubt.  He doesn't work in a negative atmosphere, but quite the contrary: He works only through your faith... so keep praising Him for answering your prayers, for providing the need, for changing circumstances.  Whatever you are belieing Him for, take your eyes off of the problem, and look to Him for the answer.  Literally, imagine the answer - as though He has already provided for you (He states in His Word that what you can see, you can have)!  Give Him the praise in advance of seeing it happen, and don't let go of your faith.  Continue to speak positive words, and thank Him until you see it manifested in your life.

By spending time as described above, in praise and worship, and offering your time, your praise for Who He Is and your songs of praise, you take your eyes off of your problems and begin to focus on Him, and Him alone.  No one else is worthy to receive this type of worship and praise, and it will give you peace that you may have never experienced before, as the presence of the Lord overwhelms you.

When you feel this type of peace, you will know the truth... that all things are possible through Him, and nothing else will even matter.   The Lord bigger than our problems, and He is faithful to come through for us, according to our faith. As you practice allowing His peace to reign in your life, get ready for the supernatural to take place in the natural of every area of your life that you submit to Him.

It may take effort to get up early in the morning, but if you ask the Lord to help you, He will be the One Who will wake you up.  When you get to this level of spending time with Him, and experiencing His peace, this will be the most powerful experience of your lifetime - and you will not want to miss your quiet time with Him again.
